LAND DANCERS
MISSION STATEMENT
Land Dancers explores and celebrates the traditional teachings and
experiences of folk music and dance from around the world, with a focus on
bringing people closer to the land and building community through the folk
music/dance tradition, the practice of oral history, story and joke telling, and
physical work with the land.sustainable living practices.

Land Dancers started by Cliff Jenkins in 1981 as a community of friends who get together and celebrate nature, health, dancing, and other activities on Cliff's land in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend Land Dancers holds a free folk dance weekend.
Over the years Cliff established a legal 501c non profit enti

Goals
- To encourage the knowledge of and participation in the art of folk dancing and folk music
- To perpetuate the traditions of folk dance, storytelling and folk music through the generations
- To build community through music, dance, physical work, and connection to the land
- To promote the appreciation and integration of diverse cultural trad

Objectives
- Semi-annual overnight camping music and dance weekends to include folk dance instruction, free dancing, performances of ethnic and folk music from around the world, and storytelling
- One-day workshops 5-6 times per year focusing on working with the land and maintaining facilities
- Collaboration with individuals, groups and nonprofit organizations with a focus on folk music, dance, and storytelling
